Chapter 60

Author pov...

Vaibhav approached Ishani, who was sitting and lost in conversation with Malini.

Stepping closer, his voice was heavy with a hidden weight. "Ishani, I need to talk to you about something. Privately."

Ishani looked up, her expression innocent. "Yes, Bhaiya? Go ahead, tell me."

"In private, Ishani," Vaibhav repeated, his eyes flickering toward their mother.

Ishani glanced at Malini, then back at her brother, a frown deepening on her face. "Are you two still not speaking to each other?"

Vaibhav remained silent, his jaw tight.

Malini sighed, her voice laced with guilt. "I didn't tell Vaibhav about your divorce or the cheating right away. He's been upset with me ever since he found out."

Ishani's eyes widened in shock. "Bhaiya, why are you doing this? It wasn't Maa's fault it was mine. I was the one who asked her to keep it a secret. Please don't be like this. If you won't talk to Maa, then I won't talk to you either!"

Vaibhav looked at her, startled. "You won't talk to me?"

"No," she replied firmly, crossing her arms.

Vaibhav's resolve crumbled under his sister's gaze. "Okay, okay. I'll talk to Maa. I'm sorry, Maa. It was my fault for reacting like that."

"No, Vaibhav," Malini countered, her eyes misty. "It was my mistake. Please don't apologize."

"Fine," Vaibhav said, clearing his throat to change the subject. "Now, will you listen to me, Ishani?"

Ishani nodded. "Yes, tell me."

Realizing Ishani wasn't going to step away for a private chat, Vaibhav sat down beside her.

He took her hand in his, his expression turning solemn. "Ishani... a marriage proposal has come for you."

The world seemed to stop for Ishani.

She froze.

"It's Karan Mishra," Vaibhav continued. "My friend from Banaras. You remember him? His wife passed away during childbirth. He's a good man, Ishani."

Ishani's gaze darted to her mother, searching for an explanation. Malini looked down. "I knew about this, Ishani... I just didn't have the courage to ask you."

"He has a child," Vaibhav explained gently. "He's looking for a mother for his little one, and in Karan, Ishaan would find a father. Tell me, what do you think?"

Ishani's mind was a whirlwind of confusion. She couldn't process the proposal; instead, her thoughts drifted instantly to Rahul. How would he react? What would happen when he found out?

"Ishani? What are you thinking?" Vaibhav's voice pulled her back to the present.

Ishani shook her head, her voice trembling but certain. "No, Bhaiya. I don't want to get married. I can raise Ishaan on my own."

Vaibhav studied her face for a long moment, then nodded slowly. "Alright. If that's what you want, I'll tell Karan no. Don't worry about it."

He stood up to leave, but Malini couldn't stay silent. "Karan is a good man, Ishani. Just... think about it one more time."

Vaibhav turned back, his tone sharp. "Maa, don't pressure her. She said no, and that's the end of it."

Malini fell silent. Without another word, Ishani stood up, walked to her room, and shut the door, leaving the heavy silence of the living room behind her.

Ishani pressed her palm against her chest, feeling her heart hammer against her ribs.

She closed her eyes tight, whispering to herself, "Why am I thinking about Rahul? Why does it matter what he thinks?" She shook her head as if to physically drive the thoughts away.

"No, Ishani... stop. You shouldn't be thinking about him. This is wrong. It's a sin." She stood there, caught in a silent, agonizing war with her own emotions.

Malini sat quietly on the sofa, lost in thought. Her face looked pale with worry.

Rani noticed her silence and walked closer.

"What happened?" Rani asked. "Why are you looking so upset?"

Malini let out a tired sigh. "Ishani refused the marriage proposal."

Rani frowned instantly. "What? She refused to marry Karan?"

Malini nodded slowly. "She said she doesn't want this marriage."

"But why?" Rani asked sharply. "Karan is a good man. Her life would become secure after this marriage."

Malini looked helpless. "Her heart isn't ready. And Vaibhav has strictly told me not to force Ishani into anything."

Rani's jaw tightened in frustration. "Sometimes elders have to make decisions for children. Ishani doesn't understand what's good for her."

Malini looked down quietly. "I don't want any more arguments with

Vaibhav, Rani ji."

With that, she got up and walked away slowly.

But anger continued burning inside Rani's heart.

She immediately turned and walked toward Ishani's room with fast, furious steps.

The door was closed.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Ishani opened the door after a few seconds, and her expression changed slightly after seeing Rani standing there.

"Aunty...?"

Without saying anything, Rani walked inside and shut the door behind her.

The sound of the lock made Ishani

nervous.

Rani turned toward her with a cold expression."Why did you refuse to marry Karan?"

Ishani looked confused by the sudden question. "Aunty, I-"

"I'm asking you something, Ishani," Rani interrupted sternly. "Answer me clearly."

Ishani lowered her eyes for a moment before speaking softly, "I don't want to marry Karan. I know he's a good person... but this marriage doesn't feel right to me. I don't think I want a life partner. I can live alone."

The moment those words left her mouth, Rani's patience snapped.

"Live alone?" she said bitterly. "Or do you want Rahul to stay trapped around you forever?"

Ishani looked up in shock. "What?"

Rani stepped closer. "Don't act innocent in front of me. You think I can't see how Rahul follows you everywhere? You refuse marriage, stay here, and keep him emotionally tied to you."

"Aunty, that's not true..." Ishani whispered, hurt visible in her eyes.

"Then what is true?" Rani shot back angrily. "Tell me! Why won't you let him move on?"

Tears instantly gathered in Ishani's eyes. "I never tried to stop Rahul..."

"But you are the reason he can't move forward!" Rani said harshly. "People will start talking. They'll say you trapped a younger boy and ruined his future."

Ishani felt as if the ground beneath her feet disappeared.

"Aunty..." her voice broke, "you really think this low of me?"

Rani looked away coldly. "I only care about my son. And for his sake, you need to leave his life. Say yes to this marriage and go away from here."

Every single word pierced Ishani's heart like glass.

Rani looked at her one last time and said firmly, "You will agree to this marriage. I don't want any arguments."

Then she walked out, slamming the door behind her.

The room fell silent.

Too silent.

Ishani stood frozen in the middle of the room, tears slowly rolling down her cheeks.

She couldn't believe the woman she respected so much had so much hatred hidden inside her heart.

The pain became unbearable.

She slowly sat down on the floor and broke into helpless sobs.

Hours passed, but her tears didn't stop.

Finally, wiping her wet face with trembling hands, she whispered painfully to herself,"Maybe Rani aunty is right... I should leave Rahul's life forever. Otherwise he'll keep destroying his future because of me..."

Her fingers shook as she picked up her phone.

After staring at the screen for a few seconds, she finally gathered courage... and called Vaibhav.

Vaibhav picked up the phone, his brow furrowed with concern. "Haan, Ishani? Is everything okay?"

Ishani's voice was hollow, devoid of its usual warmth. "Bhaiya... please, tell Karan 'yes.' I've changed my mind. I'm ready to get married."

Vaibhav froze, his grip tightening on the phone. "What? But just a little while ago, you were so firm about saying no. What changed? Did Maa pressure you? Tell me the truth, Ishani did she say something to you? Let me talk to her right now!"

"No, Bhaiya, please!" Ishani interrupted, her voice trembling with an urgency that didn't reach her eyes. "Maa didn't say anything. I just... I've thought about it, and I'm ready. Please, just tell them yes."

Before Vaibhav could press her any further, she disconnected the call. The silence that followed in her room was deafening, the finality of her decision weighing down on her like a leaden shroud.

Meanwhile, Deeksha was trying to put Mannat to sleep.

The little girl looked up sleepy, searching eyes and asked, "Papa isn't coming today, Mumma?"

Deeksha felt a small pang in her heart, but she kept her voice gentle. "No, my baby. Today you'll have to sleep without Papa. But from tomorrow, he'll be with you every single day. Now be a good girl and close your eyes."

"Okay," Mannat murmured softly.

Deeksha began to rhythmically pat

her to sleep, the steady thap-thap of her hand eventually lulling the child into a deep slumber.

Once she was sure Mannat was out, Deeksha picked up her phone.

A message from Deepak was waiting for her: Is Mannat asleep?

Deeksha typed back quickly, Yes, she's asleep.

Are you okay? Deepak asked, his concern visible even through the screen.

Yes, she replied simply.

Okay, then you should sleep too. Rest well, tomorrow is going to be a very hectic day, Deepak messaged back.

Okay, Goodnight, Deeksha replied.

She set the phone aside and pulled the covers up, closing her eyes as the weight of the coming day finally began to settle over her.

Morning light filtered into the house, bringing with it a flurry of activity.

Every corner was buzzing with the chaos of wedding preparations.

Deeksha woke up and paused for a moment, the realization finally hitting her: today was the day she would marry Deepak.

It felt almost surreal.

Mannat was still fast asleep, looking like a little angel. Deeksha quietly got up, took a quick shower, and finished her breakfast.

She then went back to wake Mannat, gently bathing her and whispering, "Mannat, today is Mumma's wedding with Papa. Do you remember?"

"Yes!" Mannat chirped, her eyes wide with excitement.

"Okay then, both Mumma and Mannat need to look their best. Let's get you fed, and then we'll get ready."

Mannat nodded eagerly.

By the time they finished breakfast, the makeup artist had arrived.

Deeksha sat patiently as her hair was styled into an elegant design. She then stepped into her heavy bridal lehenga, the rich fabric shimmering with every movement.

Mannat sat nearby, her chin resting on her hands, watching in pure awe as her mother was transformed into a

bride.

Once she was fully ready, Deeksha

turned around with a soft smile. "So, Mannat? How do I look?"

"So pretty!" Mannat exclaimed. "Like a queen!"

Deeksha laughed, a genuine sparkle in her eyes. "Alright, now it's your turn to become a little princess." The makeup artist began getting Mannat ready as well.

Suddenly, the door opened and Rajvardhan Thakur walked in. He stopped in his tracks, his breath catching as he saw Deeksha in her bridal finery.

"May no evil eye ever touch you, Deeksha," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "You look breathtaking."

Deeksha smiled warmly at him.

"When did you grow up so fast?" Rajvardhan mused, his eyes misting over. "Time just slips away... it feels like only yesterday you were a child, and now you're a bride."

"Nanu, please don't get emotional now," Deeksha said, reaching out to him. "This is what you wanted, isn't it? See, I'm getting married. Now I want you to be happy and stop worrying about everything."

Rajvardhan gave her a reassuring smile.

Just then, Ishani and Divya entered the room, their faces glowing with excitement. "Let's go, Deeksha! It's time for the Jaimala."

"I'm ready," Deeksha replied. She took Mannat's small hand in hers and, with a deep breath, walked out of the room toward the mandap.

Deepak stood by the mandap, his heart racing with anticipation. The moment Deeksha and Mannat stepped out of the room, his gaze locked onto them.

He couldn't help but smile; these two were his entire world, and today, that world was finally becoming his forever. The thought alone filled him with a quiet, overwhelming joy.

Mannat looked up at her father, her eyes sparkling. "Papa, you look so handsome! Just like a king!"

Deepak laughed, leaning down toward her. "And you look exactly like a king's little princess." Mannat giggled, while Deeksha watched the two of them, a soft, tender expression on her face.

The priest's voice broke through the moment. "The auspicious time for the Jaimala is here. Will the bride and groom please step forward?"

Deepak and Deeksha took their places, standing face-to-face with the floral garlands in their hands. "First, the bride will place the garland on the groom," the priest instructed.

With steady hands and a heart full of emotion, Deeksha placed the heavy garland around Deepak's neck.

Deepak followed suit, leaning in to drape the flowers over her, his eyes never leaving hers.

As the garlands were exchanged, the room erupted into cheers and applause, the sound of clapping sealing the beautiful beginning of their new life together.

The mandap glowed beautifully under the warm golden lights. Fresh marigold flowers hung from every corner, their fragrance mixing with the scent of incense and sacred havan smoke.

The soft sound of shehnai filled the air while the holy fire crackled peacefully in the center.

Mannat sat innocently near the mandap, her wide eyes curiously watching everything happening around her.

Sometimes she looked at her parents, sometimes at the fire, completely unaware of the storm of emotions filling the atmosphere.

Pandit ji smiled gently and spoke loudly enough for everyone to hear.

"Bride and groom, please come forward and take your seats in the mandap."

Deepak carefully helped Deeksha sit beside him. Deeksha's red bridal lehenga spread beautifully around her while her trembling fingers stayed tightly wrapped together in nervousness.

Pandit ji began chanting the sacred mantras. The sound echoed through the hall, making the entire atmosphere feel divine and emotional.

After a while, Pandit ji looked toward the family."Now it is time for the kanyadaan."

The moment those words were spoken, the atmosphere changed instantly.

Slowly, Rajvardhan Thakur stepped forward.

Not as a powerful man...

But as a grandfather whose little granddaughter was becoming someone else's responsibility today.

His eyes were already wet before he even sat down beside Deeksha.

Deeksha looked at him softly, and her heart tightened painfully. She had always seen strength in her Nanu's eyes.

But today... those same eyes were trembling with helpless love.

Pandit ji began explaining the importance of kanyadaan.

Rajvardhan lowered his head for a moment, trying to control his tears.

But he failed.

His hands shook while holding Deeksha's hand.

Tears rolled down his face continuously as memories flooded his heart her tiny childhood giggles, the way she used to run into his arms, the nights he stayed awake when she was sick, the way she called him "Nanu" with pure love.

Deeksha's lips trembled seeing him like that."Nanu..." she whispered emotionally.

Rajvardhan looked at her and forced a weak smile."Why are you crying, hmm?" he said softly while wiping her tears. "Today is your happiest day."

"But you're crying too..." Deeksha replied in a broken voice.

Rajvardhan let out a small emotional laugh."How can I not cry?" he whispered. "The little girl I raised in my arms is sitting here as a bride today."

Deepak silently watched both of them. The pain and love between them touched his heart deeply.

He respectfully lowered his eyes, understanding how difficult this moment was for Rajvardhan.

With trembling hands, Rajvardhan finally placed Deeksha's hand into Deepak's hand.

His voice cracked painfully."Take care of her, Deepak... she may act strong, but her heart is very soft."

Deepak immediately held Deeksha's hand carefully and nodded with complete sincerity."I promise, Nanu... I'll never let tears come into her eyes."

Rajvardhan closed his eyes for a moment, overwhelmed with emotions.

Finally, the kanyadaan ritual was completed.

Pandit ji smiled softly.

"Now it is time for the gathbandhan."

Rajvardhan wiped his tears quickly before looking around.

"Ishani beta," he called gently, "come here and do the gathbandhan."

Ishani looked up suddenly.

For a few seconds, she simply stared at everyone around her.

Then she walked toward the mandap beside Deepak and Deeksha, Ishani picked up the sacred cloth with trembling fingers.

Her eyes became moist while tying the knot between them.

Pandit ji smiled warmly."This knot is not just tying two people together... it is tying two souls, two destinies, and two families forever."

As Ishani tightened the knot Deepak and Deeksha looked at each other emotionally.

After tying the gathbandhan, Ishani slowly stepped back from the mandap

Her eyes lingered on them for a moment before she quietly moved aside.

The holy fire continued burning brightly in the center, its flames reflecting in everyone's emotional eyes.

Pandit ji adjusted his shawl and spoke in a calm, powerful voice,"Now it is time for the saat phere the seven sacred vows of marriage."

The atmosphere instantly turned even more emotional and divine.

Deepak slowly stood up first and gently held Deeksha's hand to help her stand beside him.

Deeksha carefully adjusted her lehenga while her bangles softly chimed in the silence.

Little Mannat watched them curiously, her innocent eyes following every movement around the sacred

fire.

Pandit ji smiled softly."In the first four phere, the bride walks ahead, symbolizing her guidance in building love, peace, and prosperity in the family. In the last three phere, the groom walks ahead, promising protection, strength, and lifelong support."

Deeksha lowered her eyes before taking the first step ahead of Deepak.

As they began circling the holy fire, Pandit ji explained each vow with devotion.

"With the first phera, you both pray for a life filled with purity and nourishment."

Deepak looked at Deeksha quietly while following behind her, his eyes filled with warmth and respect.

"The second phera is a promise to stay strong together in every difficulty."

Deeksha's steps slowed slightly as emotions overwhelmed her. Deepak gently tightened his hold near the gathbandhan, silently assuring her that he was with her.

"The third phera is for prosperity, honesty, and a peaceful home."

The sound of the mantras echoed beautifully through the mandap while family members watched with emotional smiles.

"The fourth phera is a promise of love, trust, and respect for each other forever."

As the fourth round completed,

Pandit ji gestured softly for Deepak to step ahead now.

Deepak moved in front while Deeksha followed behind him quietly.

"The fifth phera is for the blessing of family, happiness, and children."

"The sixth phera is a vow to stand beside one another in every season of life happiness or sorrow."

Deepak glanced back at Deeksha for a brief second, his eyes silently promising that she would never face life alone again.

"And the seventh phera..." Pandit ji's voice softened emotionally, "...is the vow of eternal companionship. From this moment onward, you are not two separate souls anymore. You are life partners forever."

As they completed the final round around the sacred fire, the entire mandap filled with flower petals and

emotional smiles.

Deepak and Deeksha stopped near the fire. The sacred flames flickered between them like a blessing from the heavens themselves.

Pandit ji smiled warmly at Deepak and Deeksha."Please sit down now," he said gently. "The rituals of sindoordaan and mangalsutra are still remaining."

Both of them slowly sat back down beside the sacred fire.

Pandit ji handed the small silver box of sindoor to Deepak.

Ishani stepped closer and carefully moved Deeksha's maang tikka away from her forehead. Her fingers were gentle, almost protective, while

Deeksha lowered her eyes heartbeat raced as she slowly closed her eyes.

Deepak took a small pinch of sindoor in his trembling fingers and carefully filled her maang with it.

The bright red color looked beautiful against her forehead.

As he applied it, a little bit of sindoor accidentally slipped down and landed softly on Deeksha's nose.

Suddenly, Divya laughed happily.

"Arre wah!" she exclaimed teasingly.

"The sindoor fell on her nose too! Now it's confirmed that Deepak is going to love Deeksha a lot."

The entire family burst into laughter hearing her.

Deeksha instantly became shy and lowered her face while Deepak smiled helplessly.

Divya looked toward Rajni with a mischievous grin.

"Aunty," she teased dramatically, "your son is officially going to become his wife's servant now."

Everyone laughed even louder.

Rajni shook her head while laughing softly herself.

"I only want my children to stay happy," she said emotionally. "I don't need anything else."

Hearing that, Deepak looked at his mother with a smile full of love and gratitude.

Pandit ji then handed him the mangalsutra.

The black and gold beads shimmered beautifully under the mandap lights.

Deepak carefully picked it up and looked at Deeksha for a moment. She slowly lifted her eyes toward him, nervousness and emotions shining within them.

Without breaking eye contact, Deepak gently tied the mangalsutra around her neck.

The moment it rested against Deeksha's skin, her eyes became moist again.

Pandit ji folded his hands peacefully and announced loudly,"With this, the wedding rituals are complete. The marriage is now officially solemnized."

The entire mandap instantly filled with loud claps, cheers, and happy smiles.

Flower petals rained over Deepak and Deeksha everyone looked so emotional and happy at the same time.

Under the blessings of the sacred fire,

family, and love...

Two hearts had finally become one forever.

One by one, family members and relatives came forward to bless Deepak and Deeksha.

The newly married couple sat side by side near the mandap, exhausted yet peaceful after the long rituals. Between them sat little Mannat,

Sometimes she leaned against Deepak.Sometimes against Deeksha.

As if she already knew she belonged between them forever.

An elderly relative smiled lovingly while blessing them."Stay happy forever."

Another added warmly, "May your home always stay filled with love and laughter."

Deepak and Deeksha folded their hands respectfully, thanking everyone softly.

After a while, Divya clapped her hands lightly and said,"Alright now, enough emotions for some time. Come eat food quickly, otherwise everyone will faint before the vidai even starts."

A few people laughed softly hearing her.

Deepak carefully picked Mannat into his arms while Deeksha walked beside him.

Together, the three of them went toward the dining area like a complete little family.

During dinner, Mannat kept demanding food from both of them.

"Mumma... this."

"Papa... water."

Deepak and Deeksha kept looking at each other helplessly before feeding her together, making the family smile emotionally watching them.

But as the night slowly deepened...

The moment everyone had been avoiding finally arrived.

Vidai.

The atmosphere changed completely.

The sounds of laughter faded into silence mixed with quiet sniffles and tears.

Deeksha stood near the entrance, her eyes already swollen from crying. The reality of leaving her home had finally started sinking into her heart.

The moment she looked at Rajvardhan Thakur, she broke down completely.

"Nanu..." she cried softly before hugging him tightly.

Rajvardhan immediately wrapped his arms around her protectively, his own tears falling nonstop.

"My child..." he whispered brokenly, stroking her hair lovingly. "Don't cry like this... otherwise I'll become weak too."

But his voice itself was trembling badly.

Deeksha cried harder against his chest like a little girl afraid of leaving home.

Everyone around them became emotional seeing their bond.

Nearby, Ishani silently wiped her own tears before stepping closer.

With immense difficulty, she gently held Deeksha's shoulders.

"Come..." she whispered softly. "It's time."

After saying goodbye to everyone emotionally, Deepak held sleepy little Mannat in his arms while Deeksha walked beside them toward the lift.

The lift doors slowly closed behind the three of them.

Inside the lift, silence surrounded them.

Mannat rested her head against Deepak's shoulder sleepily while

Deeksha quietly wiped her tears.

Deepak glanced at her softly.

"You can still go upstairs anytime you want," he said gently, trying to make her smile.

Deeksha let out a small teary laugh.

"I know..."

The lift dinged softly as it stopped at the lower floor.

The doors opened.

Outside, Rajni was already standing near the entrance with an aarti thali in her hands. Her eyes instantly softened seeing the three of them together.

The entrance of the flat was decorated beautifully with flowers and lights.

Deepak and Deeksha stood together at the doorway while Mannat sleepily rubbed her eyes beside them.

Rajni performed their aarti lovingly and whispered blessings under her breath.

Then she placed a plate filled with red alta near the entrance.

"Deeksha," she said softly, "step into this and come inside."

Deeksha nodded quietly.

She carefully dipped her feet into the alta and stepped inside the house, leaving deep red footprints behind her on the white floor.

Just then, Mannat looked down curiously at the red color.

Before anyone could stop her, she quickly placed her tiny feet into the alta too and began walking behind

Deeksha with excitement.

Tiny little red footprints appeared beside Deeksha's larger ones.

Deepak noticed it and stopped for a second.

His eyes moved from Deeksha's footprints...To Mannat's tiny footprints beside them.

A soft smile slowly appeared on his face.

It didn't feel like only Deeksha had entered his home tonight.

It felt like his entire world had walked in together.

After entering the home, Deepak and Deeksha had barely started walking toward the room when suddenly a dramatic voice echoed through the hall.

"Excuse me!" Divya said loudly while placing her hands on her waist. "Where do you both think you're going so quickly?"

Everyone turned toward her.

Behind her stood Ishani, Malini, Vaibhav, and Rahul, all smiling mischievously.

Deeksha looked confused."What happened?" she asked softly.

Divya gasped dramatically.

"What happened?" she repeated. "Madam, wedding games are still left. You both can't escape so easily."

A few people laughed instantly.

Deepak shook his head helplessly while Deeksha smiled.

"Which game?" Deeksha asked curiously.

Divya pointed toward the sofa.

"First sit here quietly. Then I'll explain."

Deepak and Deeksha exchanged amused glances before sitting side by side on the carpet near the center table.

Little Mannat climbed into Deeksha's lap curiously, wanting to watch everything too.

Within seconds, Divya came running back dramatically holding a large silver thali filled with milk and rose petals.

Everyone instantly understood the game and began cheering excitedly.

Divya dropped a small silver coin into the milk and announced proudly,

"Now listen carefully. Whoever finds the coin first wins the round. We'll play three rounds."

Vaibhav folded his arms."And whoever wins means they'll rule the marriage."

Deepak sighed softly."So basically I've already lost."

Everyone burst into laughter.

Deeksha smiled while lowering her eyes shyly.

Divya sat down in front of them dramatically like a referee.

"Ready?" she asked excitedly.

Deepak and Deeksha nodded.

Divya raised her hand.

"One..."

"Two..."

"Three!"

Immediately both of them dipped their hands into the milk searching for the coin.

For a few seconds, only the sound of splashing milk and laughter filled the room.

Suddenly, Deepak's fingers found the coin first.

But instead of taking it out himself...

He quietly slipped it into Deeksha's hand under the milk.

A second later, Deeksha pulled her hand out holding the coin.

"Yayyy!" everyone shouted loudly.

Divya pointed dramatically.

"First round - Deeksha wins!"

Deeksha looked at Deepak suspiciously while he simply smiled innocently beside her.

"Second round!" Divya announced immediately.

She dropped the coin again into the milk.

"One..."

"Two..."

"Three!"

Again both searched together.

And again...

Deepak found the coin first.

Rahul noticed his expression and narrowed his eyes suspiciously.

The next moment, Deeksha once again pulled the coin out.

Everyone cheered loudly again.

Divya suddenly paused and looked at

Deepak carefully.

"Wait a minute..." she said slowly. "Deepak, you're not losing on purpose, right?"

Deepak instantly looked offended.

"What? No, Didi," he said innocently. "Deeksha is genuinely winning."

Hearing that, Deeksha smiled softly while trying to hide her amusement.

Rahul laughed quietly while Vaibhav shook his head knowingly.

"Final round!" Divya announced excitedly.

She dropped the coin again.

This time everyone leaned forward curiously.

"One..."

"Two..."

"Three!"

Both searched again inside the milk.

After a few seconds, Deepak secretly pushed the coin toward Deeksha once more.

And once again, Deeksha lifted it out successfully.

The room exploded with cheers.

"Three out of three!"

"Deeksha won completely!"

"Deepak lost badly!"

Everyone immediately started teasing

Deepak.

"You lost on purpose!"

"You're already scared of your wife!"

"You'll definitely become joru ka gulaam now!"

Deepak rubbed his forehead helplessly while Deeksha sat beside him smiling continuously, her cheeks turning pink from shyness and happiness.

And honestly...

Seeing that smile on her face made losing feel completely worth it to him.

Just as the laughter from the coin game began settling down.

"Alright!" Divya announced dramatically. "Now we'll play another game-"

Before she could continue, Rajni interrupted her softly with a smile.

"Let them go now, Divya beta," she said warmly. "All three of them must be tired."

Her eyes shifted toward little Mannat."Look at Mannat," Rajni added She's already yawning."

Everyone's attention turned toward Mannat instantly.

The little girl was sitting sleepily against Deeksha, rubbing her tiny eyes while trying hard to stay awake. A small yawn escaped her lips, making everyone around smile affectionately.

Divya looked at her for a moment before sighing dramatically.

"Fine," she said while pretending to be disappointed. "I guess I'll spare you all today."

A few people laughed softly hearing her.

Deepak smiled faintly before standing up. Deeksha stood beside him quietly, carefully adjusting Mannat in her arms.

The sleepy child immediately rested her head against Deeksha's shoulder comfortably.

For a brief second, everyone in the room watched them silently.

Deepak gently held the room door open for Deeksha while she walked inside carrying Mannat carefully in her arms.

And as the door slowly closed behind them...

The noise of the outside world faded away, leaving behind only the quiet warmth of a family finally together.

Deeksha carefully laid little Mannat down on the bed.

The child shifted sleepily against the soft pillows, still half asleep after the long wedding ceremonies and endless excitement of the day.

The room around them glowed warmly under dim golden lights.

Fresh flower strings hung beautifully around the bed, and the faint fragrance of roses filled the air.

Everything looked beautifully decorated for the newly married couple.

Deepak looked at Mannat for a moment and then said softly,"Change her clothes first. She won't be able to sleep comfortably in these heavy wedding clothes."

Deeksha nodded immediately.

"Yes... but mine and Mannat's bag isn't here."

Deepak looked around the decorated room once before turning toward her.

"Okay," he said gently. "I'll bring it."

Deeksha gave a small nod.

Deepak quietly walked out of the room, leaving her alone for a moment.

As soon as the door closed softly behind him, silence settled around her.

Deeksha slowly looked around the room again.

The beautifully decorated bed...

The soft glowing lights...

The flowers...

The wardrobe...

Everything.

A strange warmth spread through her heart.

Just this morning, this room had belonged only to Deepak.

But now...

It was hers too.

Their room.

Their home.

A soft smile slowly appeared on her lips as she stood there quietly taking everything in.

Her life had changed completely.

And somehow...

That thought didn't scare her anymore.

Just then, the door opened softly.

Deeksha turned her head and saw Alex walking inside.

Seeing him there so suddenly, she frowned slightly."Now what happened?" she asked suspiciously.

Alex smiled faintly, but there was something unusually soft in his eyes tonight.

"I have to leave for London," he said quietly. "A case came up. I can't stay here any longer."

For a second, Deeksha simply stared at him. Then her expression slowly fell.

"What?" she said softly. "So suddenly?"

Alex nodded lightly."I already had the tickets booked."

Hearing that made her even more upset."At least stay for a few more days," she said emotionally. "I still have to show you around India properly."

Alex chuckled softly."I'll come again someday."

"But you didn't even tell me earlier," she complained quietly.

Alex looked at her carefully before replying,"Because if I had told you before, you would've stayed upset throughout the entire wedding."

Deeksha went silent hearing that.

And honestly...

He was right.

Her eyes softened as she looked at him.

"You'll come back to meet us later, right?" she asked quietly.

"Of course," Alex replied immediately. "But right now, I really have to go."

Deeksha sighed softly before asking,

"Did you pack everything?"

Alex smirked lightly.

"Yes, Madam. Don't worry about me." Then he added teasingly, "Worry about your first night instead."

"Alex!" Deeksha immediately hit his shoulder lightly in embarrassment.

He laughed softly seeing her flustered expression.

"Okay, okay," she muttered."Just call me once you reach."

Alex's smile slowly softened again.

Without saying anything else, he stepped forward and hugged her tightly.

"Always stay happy," he whispered quietly.

Deeksha's eyes became emotional again."Hm... bye," she said softly.

Alex gave her one last smile before finally walking out of the room.

The door closed behind him quietly.

For a few seconds, Deeksha simply stood there silently staring toward the door, feeling an unexpected emptiness settle inside her heart.

Just then, the door opened again.

Deepak walked inside carrying the bags in his hands.

The moment he saw Deeksha standing there lost in thought, his expression softened slightly.

He placed the bags down carefully before looking at her.

"What happened?" he asked gently.

Deeksha quietly looked at Deepak and said softly, "Alex has left... he went to London."

Deepak paused for a moment while arranging the bags."Why so suddenly?" he asked, glancing at her.

"He should've stayed a little longer."

Deeksha gave a small sigh."He had work... an urgent case came up."

Deepak nodded slowly, understanding but still a little surprised.

"Ohh... are you okay?" he asked gently.

"Yes," Deeksha replied softly.

Deepak gave a faint reassuring smile.

"Alright then... change Mannat's clothes and change yours too. It's been a long day."

Deeksha nodded and carefully picked up little Mannat.

Deepak walked toward the washroom with his clothes, closing the door behind him.

The room fell quiet again.

Deeksha gently removed Mannat's wedding outfit, changing her into soft comfortable clothes.

The little girl barely stirred, only snuggling closer as Deeksha placed her back on the bed and slowly made her sleep.

A few minutes later, Deepak stepped out of the washroom, adjusting his shirt.

"You go and change too," he said softly.

Deeksha nodded and picked up her clothes before walking inside the washroom.

Deepak sat down on the edge of the bed and looked at Mannat sleeping peacefully.

A soft smile appeared on his face.

He leaned down and gently kissed

Mannat's forehead.

"You are my little world," he whispered softly.

A moment later, Deeksha came out after changing into comfortable clothes.

Her hair was slightly damp, her face calm but tired.

She looked at Deepak and asked softly, "Where should I sleep?"

Deepak opened his arms slightly without saying anything.

"Here," he said simply.

A small smile formed on Deeksha's lips.

She walked toward him and gently settled beside him. The moment she came closer, Deepak wrapped his arms around her tightly, pulling her into a warm embrace.

Deeksha smiled softly, resting her

head against his chest."I'm really happy today," Deepak murmured.

"I am too," Deeksha replied quietly.

Deepak kissed her softly in her hair, his hand gently stroking her back.

"You must be tired. Let's sleep."

Deeksha nodded lightly.

"Haan..."

Slowly, both of them settled down on

the bed, still holding each other.

The room fell into a peaceful silence as they drifted into sleep together... warm, safe, and finally at home.

The morning sun filtered through the curtains as Deeksha opened her eyes.

She felt a familiar warmth and realized Deepak was still fast asleep, holding her in a tight, protective embrace.

A gentle smile played on her lips she leaned in, pressing a soft kiss against his lips before carefull her way out of his arms.

Picking up her clothes, she quietly slipped into the washroom.

A few moments later, Deepak stirred. Reaching out, he realized the bed beside him was empty, but he wasn't alone.

Mannat, their little daughter, had claimed the space, sleeping sprawled out with one tiny leg resting right over his chest. Deepak chuckled softly at the sight.

He pulled the little one closer, letting her rest against his chest, and closed his eyes for a few more minutes of peace.

Deeksha eventually emerged from the washroom, fresh and ready, but only partially dressed in her petticoat and blouse.

She stood before the mirror, clutching a heavy saree. Having lived in London for so long, she had completely forgotten the complicated pleats and tucks.

As she struggled with the fabric, the rhythmic clinking of her glass bangles filled the room.

The sound woke Deepak. He opened his eyes to see her damp hair trailing water droplets that traced a path down her neck and disappeared into the edge of her blouse.

When Deeksha caught him staring, he quickly squeezed his eyes shut, pretending to be asleep.

She tried again, but the pleats kept slipping. Finally, she let out an audible huff of irritation.

Deepak couldn't hold back a chuckle. He carefully moved Mannat to the side and sat up."If it's giving you such a hard time, why are you forcing yourself to wear it?"

Deeksha jumped slightly, instinctively pulling the saree over herself to hide her frustration.

Deepak stood up from the bed and walked toward her. "Give it here. Let me help you."

Deeksha looked at him, skeptical. "I can do it myself! And wait a minute... how do you know how to drape a saree?"

Deepak grinned, his eyes dancing with mischief. "Why? Getting jealous? Thinking I've had too much practice?"

Deeksha made a face at him, her cheeks flushing. Deepak took the fabric from her hands, his expression softening. "I used to help Maa with her sarees when she was in a hurry. That's how I know."

"Oh," Deeksha whispered, her annoyance melting into a small smile.

"But seriously," Deepak said, looking at her with concern. "You don't have to do this for anyone. Just wear something comfortable."

Deeksha shook her head, her voice firm yet gentle. "It's our first day after the wedding, Deepak. If Rajni Aunty sees me in western clothes today, what will she think? I want to look the daughter-in-law of this house."

Deepak let out a low, teasing chuckle as his fingers brushed against the silk. "Oh, I see. So the plan is to charm your mother-in-law on day one?"

Deeksha bit her lip, her eyes scanning his face. "It's not just about charming her, Deepak. I don't want her to feel like I've forgotten our roots just because I lived abroad. I don't want her to find a single reason to be disappointed."

"Maa isn't like that," Deepak murmured, his voice dropping an octave as he began to gather the fabric.

He stepped closer, his knuckles grazing her skin as he worked on the pleats.

Deeksha felt a shiver run down her spine, her breath hitching at the casual intimacy of his touch.

"How can you be so sure?" she whispered, her voice trembling slightly.

Deepak didn't respond with words.

Instead, he finished the pleats with practiced ease and tucked them firmly into her waistband. But he didn't pull his hand away.

His fingers lingered against the sensitive skin of her waist, sending a jolt of electricity through her.

With a sudden, fluid motion, his hand waistband jerked her forward.

Deeksha gasped, her hands instinctively flying up to rest on his broad shoulders for support. She was pressed flush against him, the heat radiating from his body seeping into hers.

He leaned down, his face inches from hers, locking her in a gaze so intense it felt like he was reading her soul.

The air in the room grew heavy, thick with the scent of her shampoo and his musk."Because she's my mother," he whispered, his breath fanning over her lips, "and I know exactly what-and who she loves."

Deeksha's heart hammered against her ribs like a trapped bird. She couldn't move she could barely think.

She was hyper-aware of the pressure of his hand on her waist and the way his eyes dropped to her lips for a fraction of a second.

Just as the tension reached a breaking point, Deepak removed his hand from her waist..

Deeksha took an instinctive step back, her chest heaving as she finally allowed herself to breathe.

She looked away, her cheeks flushed a deep crimson, while Deepak stood there, watching her with a triumphant smirk playing on his lips.

meticulously folding the fabric into perfect pleats. Deeksha, feeling the heat of his proximity, tried to rush him.

"Hurry up, Deepak! Why is it taking you so long?" she whispered, her voice laced with a nervous edge.

Deepak didn't look up, his smirk widening. "What's the rush? Where do you have to go so early? Relax, I'm almost done."

But Deeksha couldn't relax. Her heart was racing so fast she felt it might burst; she desperately needed to step away just to catch her breath.

Deepak moved behind her to secure the pallu over her shoulder. As he fastened the safety pin, his fingers brushed against her skin, sending fresh shivers through her.

Once the pin was set, he didn't pull away. Instead, he leaned in and pressed a lingering, soft kiss on the nape of her neck.

Deeksha froze. A current of electricity shot through her, leaving her rooted to the spot, her mind a complete blank.

Before she could recover, Deepak wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, pulling her back against his chest.

"My wife looks absolutely breathtaking today," he murmured into her ear, before turning her slightly to plant a kiss on her cheek.

"Deepak... what are you doing?" she stammered, her voice breathless. "It's morning... let me go."

To her surprise, Deepak instantly let go and stepped back. Deeksha turned around, blinking at him, feeling a strange sense of emptiness the moment the warmth of his touch vanished.

"What happened?" he asked innocently, a playful glint in his eyes. "I let you go, just like you asked."

Deeksha shot him a mock-glare, her face still flushed.

Deepak just laughed at her expression that specific look of annoyed affection he loved so much.

She turned toward the mirror to finish her look. She combed through her hair, then carefully applied a streak of crimson sindoor along her parting.

Finally, she put on her mangalsutra, the beads clicking softly. All the while,

Deepak stayed exactly where he was, leaning against the wall, watching her with a gaze full of quiet, unwavering love.

Once she was fully ready, Deeksha turned to him, adjusting her saree one last time. "Now, you get ready too. I'm heading outside," she said, trying to regain her composure.

Deepak gave her a playful, mock salute. "Yes, Madam. Right away."

Deeksha stepped out into the hallway, expecting the usual morning bustle of an Indian household, but the house was draped in an unusual silence.

Everything was still. She looked around, confused, wondering if Rajni Aunty was still asleep.

Curiosity getting the better of her, she walked over to Rajni's room and pushed the door open just a crack.

Peering in, she saw her mother-in-law asleep, looking peaceful in the dim light. Not wanting to disturb her,

Deeksha quietly pulled the door shut.

She walked into the dining area and sat down at the large table. She had no idea what she was supposed to do next. Was she expected to start tea? Should she wait?

Deeksha sat there at the dining table, her head resting on her hand, but within minutes, the silence of the house lulled her back to sleep.

When Deepak finally walked out, freshly showered and dressed, he stopped in his tracks. He caught sight of his wife fast asleep at the table and couldn't suppress a chuckle.

"If she wanted to sleep so badly, she should've just stayed in bed," he murmured to himself, shaking his head. "What's the point of taking a bath and dressing up just to nap at the dining table?"

He quietly slipped into the kitchen and started clattering some pans to prepare breakfast.

The rhythmic sounds of the kitchen reached

Deeksha's ears, jolting her awake. Rubbing her eyes, she hurried into the kitchen.

"What are you doing? What are you making?" she asked, surprised to see him at the stove.

"Breakfast," Deepak replied simply, without looking up from the pan.

"No, no, you leave it. I'll do it," Deeksha insisted, reaching for the spatula.

Deepak paused and turned to look at her, his expression softening. "Deeksha, listen. You don't need to force yourself into this 'perfect daughter-in-law' mold. You're fine exactly as you are. Besides, I always handle breakfast when Maa decides to sleep in. I'm used to it."

"Oh," Deeksha softened, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders.

"So, what's your order, Madam? What would you like to eat?" Deepak teased.

"Anything you make is fine," she replied with a small smile.

As he worked, Deeksha stood by the counter, watching his practiced movements. "Are you sure you don't need help?" she offered.

"Not at all. Go, sit outside. I'll bring it to the table," he said firmly but kindly.

Deeksha nodded and headed back to the dining room. A few minutes later, Deepak arrived with two steaming plates.

As they sat together, enjoying the quiet meal, Deeksha glanced toward Rajni's room."What about Aunty? When will she have breakfast?"

"She's probably exhausted from all the wedding festivities yesterday," Deepak said, taking a bite. "Let her rest. She'll eat whenever she wakes up."

"Okay," Deeksha replied, finally feeling a sense of peace in her new home.

After finishing her breakfast, Deeksha stood up and looked at Deepak. "Since Mannat is still asleep, I think I'll quickly head over to see Nanu," she said.

Deepak nodded supportively. "Go ahead. I'll keep an eye on Mannat, don't you worry about a thing."

"Okay," Deeksha replied, feeling relieved.

.........................................................................................................

She walked over to her house, but as she entered, she was taken aback. The living room was filled with strangers.

Rajvardhan looked up and was surprised to see her. "Deeksha? What are you doing here so early, beta?"

"I just came to see you, Nanu. But... who are all these people?"Deeksha asked

Rajvardhan Thakur sighed, his expression unreadable. "They are here to see Ishani. It's for a marriage proposal."

Deeksha felt a jolt of shock. "What?"

She could tell from her grandfather's face that even he wasn't entirely comfortable with this sudden development. Sensing the tension, Deeksha hurried toward Ishani's room.

Inside the room, she found Divya already there, looking distressed. Divya was pleading with Ishani. "Ishani, please, just say no to this marriage! Tell them you aren't ready."

Ishani remained eerily silent, her gaze fixed on nothingness.

"Ishani! Are you even listening to me?" Divya cried out, her voice cracking. "Reject this proposal, or I'm going out there right now to tell them myself!"

As Divya turned to leave, Ishani suddenly grabbed her hand, her grip firm. "Divya, stop. This is my life. I need to get married. This is for Ishaan. He deserves a better life, a stable future... and a father like Karan will provide that for him. He'll be happy."

Divya looked at her in disbelief.

"Ishaan would be just as happy with Rahul! How can you do this to my brother, Ishani? He loves you!"

"But I don't love him!" Ishani snapped, her voice cold and sharp. "Why can't you understand that, Divya? Why are you being so stubborn? There is no 'us.' There is no future for Rahul and me. Please, just leave me alone!"

The harshness in Ishani's voice pierced through Divya. She looked at her friend, deeply hurt, and slowly wrenched her hand away. "Fine,"

Divya whispered, her eyes brimming with tears. "If that's how it is, then from today, our friendship is over."

Ishani didn't utter a word as Divya stormed out of the room. Deeksha stood frozen at the doorway, watching the scene unfold in silence.

Deeksha stepped into the room, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Didi, what is all this? Are you really marrying someone else?"

Ishani turned to her, her expression like a mask of cold stone. "Yes, I am. If you have a lecture ready for me too, go ahead. I'll listen to that as well."

Before Deeksha could find the words to respond, Malini entered the room. "Ishani, come outside, beta. Everyone is waiting."

Ishani stood up, mechanically smoothing out her saree, and followed Malini into the living room.

Karan's parents were seated there, the

Karan's parents were seated there, their eyes lighting up the moment they saw her.

They clearly approved.

Vaibhav stepped forward to introduce the family. "Uncle, Aunty, this is my sister Ishani, and this is Ishaan

Ishani's son."

Karan's parents smiled warmly at the little boy and beckoned him to come closer. "Come here, Ishaan. Come to us, beta," they called out gently.

Vaibhav nudged him softly. "Go on, Ishaan. They're calling you."

But Ishaan didn't move. He stood rooted to the spot, his gaze fixed on the floor.

Ishani spoke up, her voice steady but protective. "Ishaan is an autistic child. He doesn't find it easy to socialize or mingle with everyone."

Karan looked at the boy intently. This was news to him he hadn't realized the Ishaan's condition until this very moment. However, his parents didn't seem deterred.

"We truly like Ishani," Karan's mother announced, her smile widening. "Shall we fix a date for the wedding?"

Vaibhav was taken aback by the pace. "So soon, Aunty?"

"And why not?" Karan's mother replied enthusiastically. "The moment you told us Ishani had agreed to the proposal, we wanted to come over immediately. We would have come yesterday, but since you had a wedding in the family, we waited. That's why we're here so early this morning to see our daughter-in-law. We want Ishani in our home as soon as possible."

Vaibhav nodded slowly. "Alright, Aunty. Let's call the priest and ask him for the most auspicious date."

While they waited for the priest.Karan's eyes kept drifting back to Ishaan. He watched the boy's repetitive movements, feeling a growing sense of unease about the life he was about to step into.

A short while later, the Priest arrived. Karan's parents didn't waste any time. "Pandit ji, please find us the earliest possible date for the wedding," his mother requested urgently.

The Priest gave a knowing smile and began flipping through the pages of his ancient almanac.

After cross-referencing their horoscopes and checking the planetary positions, he looked up. "There are several auspicious dates this month. You tell me when would you like the ceremony to take place?"

"Is two weeks from now alright, Vaibhav beta?" Karan's mother asked, turning to him.

Vaibhav looked at his mother, uncertain.

Malini spoke up, her voice tinged with hesitation. "Isn't that a bit too soon? Two weeks is hardly

enough time to prepare."

Karan's mother reached out, trying to reassure her. "Behenji, we want this wedding to happen quickly. We don't want anything from you no demands, no dowry. Whatever way you choose to arrange the ceremony, we are happy to support you and even share the arrangements. We just want to take our daughter-in-law home."

Malini shared a look with Vaibhav,

considering the offer. Finally, she nodded. "Alright then."

"It's settled, Aunty," Vaibhav added.

Karan's mother beamed with joy, and soon, boxes of laddoos were brought out to celebrate the fixing of the date.

Deeksha and Rajvardhan watch everything silently, slightly shocked at how quickly things are being decided.

After some time, Karan and his parents prepare to leave.

As they step out of the house, Karan leans slightly toward his mother and mutters in frustration, "Mom, Ishani's kid is crazy... I don't think I'll be able to handle him."

His mother's expression turned cold as she cut him off sharply."Stop this nonsense, Karan. Don't think too much and don't complicate it. The marriage will happen first quietly and properly. After that, the child will stay with Vaibhav. We are not taking responsibility for anything else... we only need Ishani in this deal. That's it."

Karan falls silent for a moment, then exhales in relief, as if a burden has been lifted from his mind.
