Morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, painting the room in soft hues, when a sharp, persistent knocking broke the silence.
Ishani stirred, her eyes fluttering open to the rhythmic thud-thud-thud against their bedroom door.
With a groan, she slid out of bed. She quickly twisted her hair into a messy bun, pulling a few loose strands back as she went to open the door.
Deepak and Deeksha stood there, already dressed and looking far too energetic for the early hour.
"It's barely sunrise," Ishani muttered, leaning against the doorframe, her voice still thick with sleep. "What are you two doing up so early?"
Deepak his eyes scanning the room behind her. "Is Mannat okay? I wanted to check on her."
Ishani nodded, a small smile softening her face. "She's fine. Still sound asleep."
"Good," Deepak replied, his tone shifting to one of quiet determination. "I'll just scoop her up and take her to our room so you guys can get some more rest."
"That works," Ishani said, stepping aside to let him through.
Deepak stepped into the room, but he stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes widening in surprise.
He looked at the sofa where Rahul was curled into a cramped, awkward ball and then back to the empty space on the bed next to Ishani.
They still hadn't moved past the separate sleeping arrangements, a silent boundary that hung heavy in the air.
Deepak shook his head, pushing his thoughts aside. He walked over to the small cradle, gently lifting his daughter into his arms. With a nod to Ishani, he carried Mannat out of the room.
"See you guys at breakfast," Deeksha whispered, offering a knowing look as she followed Deepak.
Ishani closed the door, the room suddenly feeling too quiet. She turned back to look at the sofa.
Rahul's arm was dangling off the edge, his legs awkwardly bent toward the floor. He looked so uncomfortable, his tall frame squeezed into the tight space of the sofa.
A pang of guilt pricked at her heart. Seeing him struggle like that twisted in such an unnatural, cramped position just to give her space made her chest ache.
He's so uncomfortable, she thought, watching him shift in his sleep. It felt wrong to see him like this, trying to fit his body into a space that just wasn't meant for him.
She stood there for a long moment, watching the rise and fall of his chest, troubled by how much she hated seeing him so restless.
Finally, she gave up, pulled out her fresh clothes, and went for a shower, hoping the water would calm her restless mind.
After freshening up, she stepped out onto the hotel balcony. The air was cool and silent.
Inside, Rahul and Ishaan were fast asleep, completely unaware of the world.
Ishani walked to the railings and looked down at the beach. It was completely deserted, and the first rays of the sunrise were just starting to paint the sky. A strange, quiet calm washed over her as she watched the sun come up.
But just as she was losing herself in the view, she felt a sudden, violent push from behind.
Before she could even scream, she was over the railing. She went down, hitting the rocks below with a thud that echoed in the quiet morning.
Her scream tore through the silence, and suddenly, the hotel was alive with chaos. People started running out of their rooms, shouting in panic.
Deepak and Deeksha stepped out of their room, confused by the noise.
They couldn't see much because of the crowd, so they rushed downstairs.
When they finally pushed through the people and saw who was lying on the ground, their hearts stopped.
"Ishani!" Deepak cried out. He sprinted toward her, dropping to his knees, shaking her. "Ishani! Di! Please, wake up!"
Deeksha was in a state of shock, her eyes wide with terror. She didn't waste a second she bolted toward Rahul's room.
She banged on the door frantically, and without waiting, she pushed it open.
"Rahul! Rahul, wake up!" she shrieked, her voice trembling. "It's Ishani! Ishani Di fell from the balcony! There's... there's so much blood everywhere!"
Rahul jumped out of the sofa, his heart hammering against his chest. Hearing the panic in her voice, he went cold.
He didn't even think he just ran toward the exit, with Deeksha struggling to keep up behind him.
He reached the spot, and his entire world seemed to shatter. Seeing Ishani lying there, so still, with blood pooling around her head from the impact on the rocks, he just froze.
The sight of it was so brutal, so unreal he couldn't even breathe. He felt like the ground had slipped out from under his feet.
Without wasting a single heartbeat, Rahul lunged forward. He scooped Ishani up into his arms, holding her bridal style, her limp body feeling terrifyingly heavy against him. His eyes were wild with panic, darting everywhere.
"Deepak! The car! Where is the car? We need to get to the hospital-now!" Rahul shouted, his voice cracking with desperation. "Ishani, please! Ishani, look at me! Wake up, please!"
Deepak didn't wait he sprinted toward the parking area, waving his arms and yelling at the driver to bring the vehicle around immediately.
Rahul settled into the backseat, cradling Ishani against his chest. He kept tapping her face gently, his own hands trembling uncontrollably.
"Ishani, please, open your eyes. This is not funny, please wake up!" He kept pleading with her, his tears falling onto her pale face. "What happened? How did this even happen? Ishani, please don't do this to me... if anything happens to you, I will die, I swear it."
As the driver pulled up, Deepak jumped into the front seat. "Drive! Just drive! Go to the nearest hospital, fast!" Deepak commanded, his voice thick with fear.
As the car sped through the quiet streets of Goa, the scene inside was heartbreaking.
Blood was still seeping from Ishani's wound, staining Rahul's clothes. Within minutes, his shirt and arms were completely soaked in her blood, but he didn't care.
He just pulled her closer, burying his face in her hair, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Please, Ishani, just open your eyes," he whispered, his voice broken and hollow. "How did this happen so suddenly? Everything was fine just a moment ago... how did everything change in a second?"
He held her tight, as if his grip alone could keep her soul from leaving, the car racing toward the hospital while the world outside blurred past them, silent and indifferent to their agony.
The car screeched to a halt in front of the hospital, the tires leaving black marks on the pavement.
Before the vehicle had fully stopped, Deepak jumped out and flung the door open.
Rahul stepped out, Ishani still clutched tightly in his arms, her head resting lifelessly against his shoulder. His clothes were drenched in her blood, and his face was a mask of pure agony.
"Stretcher! Someone get a stretcher!" Deepak screamed, waving frantically at the staff. But Rahul didn't stop. He was beyond listening.
He marched straight into the lobby, his eyes wild, his voice echoing off the walls. "Doctor! Doctor, please! Someone save my Ishani! Please, I beg you!"
"Sir, please put her on the stretcher! We can't examine her like this!" the doctor urged, rushing forward with his team.
"Rahul, let her go! Put her down! That's the only way they can treat her!" Deepak pleaded, trying to pry
Rahul's stiff, trembling arms away from her.
With a heavy heart and shaking hands, Rahul finally laid her onto the stretcher, watching helplessly as the nurses hurried her away.
The doctor turned to them, his expression serious. "How did this happen?"
Deepak stepped forward, his voice tight with tension. "She fell from the hotel balcony."
The doctor hesitated for a second. "This looks like a police case. You'll need to inform the police before we can proceed with the formalities."
Something inside Rahul snapped. The pain, the fear, and the sheer desperation exploded into rage. He lunged forward, grabbing the doctor by his collar and pinning him back.
"I am the police, do you understand me?" Rahul roared, his eyes blazing with fury. "Save her! If anything happens to Ishani, I will burn this hospital to the ground and shut it down forever! Do your job!"
The doctor went pale, visibly shaken by the raw, dangerous intensity in Rahul's eyes.
Deepak quickly stepped in, pulling
Rahul back and loosening his grip on the doctor.
"Doctor, listen to me," Deepak said, his voice firm but urgent. "We are both police officers. We are taking full responsibility. Now, please, for the love of God, just save her!"
The doctor nodded quickly, not daring to argue further. "Take her to the ICU immediately," he ordered his staff.
As the doors of the ICU swung open and swallowed Ishani inside, Rahul slumped against the wall, his hands still stained with her blood, his heart shattered into a thousand pieces.
The hospital corridor felt like a graveyard. Rahul stood outside the ICU, his entire world narrowing down to the rhythmic, heart-wrenching beeping of the monitor.
When the doctor finally emerged, his face was grave, etched with lines of worry.
"The situation is critical," the doctor began, his voice low. "She has suffered a severe brain injury, and the internal bleeding is relentless. We've called our best neurosurgeon, but every second is a race against time. You need to clear the hospital formalities immediately deposit ten lakhs now, and another ten lakhs once the surgery is underway."
Rahul didn't even blink. He didn't care about the money he would give his life if he could save her. "Deepak," he rasped, his voice sounding like broken glass. "Go to the room. My bag... there's a chequebook in it. Bring it here. Fast!"
Deepak gripped his shoulder, his own eyes red-rimmed. "I'm going, Rahul. Just... stay calm. Keep it together, brother. I'll be back in a few minutes."
Rahul didn't answer. He was already looking through the glass, his soul aching. As soon as Deepak ran off,
Rahul turned to the doctor, his eyes pleading. "Can I... can I go inside? Just for a minute?"
The doctor looked at the broken man before him and gave a slow, solemn nod.
Rahul stepped into the sterile, cold room. The smell of antiseptic stung his nose, but all he could smell was the faint, sweet scent of Ishani's shampoo mixed with the metallic tang of blood.
She lay motionless on the bed, wires and tubes snaking around her like chains.
He walked over, his legs feeling like lead. Slowly, he reached out and cupped her face.
Her skin was deathly pale, so different from the vibrant, glowing woman who had been laughing just hours ago.
"Ishani..." he whispered, his voice shattering into a sob. Tears streamed down his cheeks, landing on her forehead. "How did this happen ?"
He leaned down, pressing his forehead against hers, closing his eyes as he kissed her cheek tenderly. He pulled her limp body into his arms, holding her with a desperation that defied logic, as if his embrace could stop the blood and mend her broken mind.
"Please, Ishani... wake up," he begged, his voice a broken prayer against her hair. "Don't leave me. Please, just be okay. We have so much left to do... just wake up for me."
He rocked her gently, his shoulders shaking with silent, heaving sobs, oblivious to the world outside, anchored only to the heartbeat he prayed wouldn't stop.
Deepak finally returned, completing the payment formalities.
The hospital staff quickly mobilized, and the top-tier neurosurgeon arrived, preparing for the life-saving procedure.
Deepak had to practically drag a distraught Rahul out of the ICU. Rahul was inconsolable he didn't want to let go of Ishani's hand, as if his touch was the only thing keeping her tethered to this world.
As the nurses wheeled Ishani toward the Operation Theatre, Rahul stood there, frozen, his eyes glued to her pale face until the heavy doors finally clicked shut.
The wait was agonizing eight long, torturous hours. Every minute felt like a lifetime. When the surgeon finally emerged, he looked exhausted but calm.
"The surgery was successful," he announced. "We've managed to stabilize her, but she remains unconscious. We are shifting her to the ICU. You can see her, but don't expect her to wake up immediately."
A wave of relief washed over Rahul, so intense it almost brought him to his knees. He rushed into the ICU. Seeing her lying there, stable, he let out a choked sob.
"Thank you, Ishani," he whispered, cupping her hand against his cheek. "You're so brave, my love. So, so brave."
Deepak stood by the doorway, his brow furrowed in thought. "Rahul, we should inform our family. It's not right to keep them in the dark."
Rahul shook his head firmly, his eyes never leaving Ishani. "No, Deepak. Not yet. They'll panic and fall apart. We'll tell them once she wakes up."
Deepak sighed, knowing it was futile to argue. "Alright, but Ishaan is inconsolable. Deeksha just called he's crying non-stop for her. He doesn't understand."
Rahul turned toward the bed, his voice thick with emotion. "Ishani, do you hear me? Your Ishaan is waiting for you. He's crying for you, Ishani. Please, wake up soon."
Deepak walked over, his expression turning serious. "Rahul, think about it. Does this sit right with you? How could Ishani just fall from that railing? It was high, and she was careful. Something feels... off."
Rahul's eyes hardened. The exhaustion in his face was replaced by a sharp, cold determination. He had been so focused on saving her that he hadn't processed the impossibility of the fall.
"You're right," Rahul said, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "It wasn't an accident. No way she just falls like that. We need to check the hotel's CCTV footage."
Deepak nodded, his jaw set. "You stay here. Keep watching over her. I'll handle the hotel security and get those tapes. If someone did this, they aren't getting away with it."
Rahul looked back at Ishani, his heart hardening against whoever had dared to hurt her.
"Find out who it was, Deepak," he said, his voice deadly. "If I find out someone did this on purpose, I won't just arrest them... I'll destroy them."
Two days crawled by, each second heavier than the last. For Deepak, the hotel security cameras were a dead end they showed absolutely nothing no movement, no shadows, nothing.
The lack of evidence began to cloud their judgment, and slowly, even Deepak started to wonder if it truly was just a tragic, freak accident.
At the hospital, the atmosphere was suffocating. Ishani remained a statue, lost in the depths of her own silence.
Back at the hotel, little Ishaan had become a shell of himself. He spent his days crying for his mother until he fell asleep from sheer exhaustion, refusing to touch a morsel of food.
Rahul was tearing apart from the inside. He sat by Ishani's bedside, whispering prayers, his voice raw from lack of sleep and constant pleading.
He couldn't bear the sight of her lying so still, nor could he handle the news of Ishaan's heartbreak. He felt like he was failing both of them.
Every few hours, he would grab the doctor's arm, his eyes desperate. "Doctor, please, tell me when will she wake up? It's been two days!"
The doctor would offer vague, forced reassurances, but behind his professional mask, a cold dread was setting in.
He knew the truth, but he was terrified to be the one to break Rahul's heart.
On the third day, something in Rahul snapped. He stormed into the doctor's cabin, his patience utterly spent. "Don't give me that 'we're doing our best' speech again! Tell me the truth! When is she waking up?"
The doctor sighed, closing his files. He looked at Rahul with pity. "Mr. Rahul, I have to be honest with you. Her brain trauma was more severe than we anticipated. She has slipped into a coma. We don't know when or if she will wake up."
The words hit Rahul like a physical blow. The world seemed to stop spinning. He stood frozen, his face turning ghostly pale.
"What are you saying?" Rahul's voice was a barely audible whisper,
trembling with fury and disbelief.
"You said the surgery was a success! How did this happen? How?"
"We did everything in our power, Rahul," the doctor replied, his voice low. "The surgery was a success, yes, but her brain isn't responding. It's beyond our control now."
"But when?" Rahul shouted, his tears finally breaking through. "Tell me when! A week? A month? There has to be a timeline!"
"There is no timeline," the doctor confessed, looking away. "It could be tomorrow... or it could be a year. We simply don't know."
Rahul collapsed into a nearby chair, his head in his hands. The silence of the room was deafening.
He felt as though he were standing on the edge of an abyss, staring into a future that was suddenly dark and empty.
His Ishani, his life, was right there, yet a million miles away.
Deeksha was at her breaking point trying to soothe heartbroken child, she was physically and emotionally exhausted.
Seeing Ishaan's deteriorating state, she decided she had to take him to the hospital; maybe seeing his mother would finally give him some clarity, or perhaps, some peace.
As they entered the ICU, the sterile, cold air hit them. Ishaan stood at the foot of the bed, his small hands clutching the railing.
He stared at Ishani his vibrant, loving mother, now lying so still, surrounded by the rhythmic, cold beep-beep of the monitors.
"Mumma? Mumma, utho na..." Ishaan whispered, his voice trembling. He reached out to touch her hand, but it was cold. "Mumma, please utho. Why are you sleeping so much?"
Deeksha turned her face away, her shoulders shaking as she sobbed silently.
She wiped her tears quickly and forced a smile that didn't reach her eyes. "Ishaan, baby... Mumma is just very, very tired. She's sleeping deeply right now. She'll wake up soon, and then she'll hug you so tight, just like she always does."
Ishaan looked at her, his big, innocent eyes filled with a pain no child should ever know. "Mumma bhi papa ki tarah bhagwan ke paas chali gayi kya, Deeksha aunty?"
The question felt like a dagger to Deeksha's heart.
She fell to her knees, pulling him into her arms, weeping openly. "No, Ishaan! Never say that! Mumma is right here. She hasn't gone anywhere, she's not going to leave you. She's just... she's waiting to be strong enough to hold you again."
Ishaan seemed to take comfort in her words. He wiggled out of her arms and climbed onto the side of the bed.
Carefully, he leaned over and rested his small, soft face against Ishani's chest, right where her heart should be beating strong.
He closed his eyes, holding his breath, waiting for the familiar warmth, waiting for her arms to wrap around him and pull him into that safe, loving embrace.
But Ishani remained still. The gentle rise and fall of her chest was the only sign of life, but there was no reaction, no movement, no hug.
Rahul stood in the corner, watching this unfold. The sight of her son seeking comfort from a mother who couldn't even acknowledge his presence broke the last remaining piece of his heart.
He felt like he was suffocating, his own tears blurring the sight of his broken family.
The decision was made. With a heavy heart, Rahul finally broke the news to the family. The moment the words left his mouth, a wave of devastation swept through them.
Malini and Vaibhav were inconsolable, their world shattering at the thought of their Ishani lying broken. Divya, too, was paralyzed with shock and grief.
Arrangements were made in a blur of tears and numbness. Rahul, along with Deepak, Deeksha, Mannat, Ishaan, and the medical team, brought Ishani back to Delhi. The journey was a haunting echo of the nightmare they were living.
Once they arrived at their home, they carefully laid Ishani on their bed. She looked so small, so fragile, lost in the depths of her unconsciousness. The room, which used to be filled with her laughter and warmth, now felt cold and empty, save for the hum of the medical equipment monitoring her vitals.
Ishaan sat by her side, his tiny fingers locked around her pale hand. "Mumma, utho na... please, Mumma," he whimpered, his voice cracking. He waited for a squeeze, a movement, anything but her hand remained limp.
Rahul couldn't bear to see her son in such pain.
He walked over and scooped Ishaan into his arms, pulling him against his chest. "Mumma is just in a very deep sleep, Ishaan. She's tired, beta. She will wake up soon, and then she'll hold you and give you the biggest hug ever, okay? Just give her a little more time."
Ishaan buried his face into Rahul's neck, wrapping his arms around him in a desperate, tight hug. Rahul held him back just as fiercely, his own tears soaking into Ishaan's hair.
They stood there in the center of the room, two broken hearts clinging to each other, both silently praying for the miracle that felt so far away.
The next day, the family arrived from Banaras. The sight of Ishani so still, so silent broke them all over again.
Malini clung to the bedpost, sobbing into her pallu, while Vaibhav stood by the window, his face wet with tears he couldn't hide.
The entire house was heavy with prayers. Every room, every corner seemed to echo with the silent plea Ishani, please come back to us.
But Ishani remained adrift in the shadows, leaving her loved ones to navigate the agonizing silence of her absence, praying that somewhere, deep within, she could still hear them calling her name.
........................................................................................................
"Four months later"
Four months had passed. Life in the house had turned into a grueling, silent routine of waiting and praying.
Malini had stayed back in Delhi to support Rahul, as the rest of the family had returned to Banaras. She became the backbone of the house, spending her days tending to Ishani and looking after a quiet, fading little Ishaan.
While managing things in Delhi, Malini stayed in constant touch with Divya, who was in the final month of her pregnancy.
"Beta, it's the ninth month now. Just stay calm and don't take any tension," Malini said over the phone one afternoon.
"Maa, Vaibhav is so worried all the time. Please, can you come to Banaras for a few days?" Divya pleaded, her voice thick with fatigue.
Malini sighed, her heart torn. "Beta, how can I leave? If I come there, who will take care of Ishaan and look after Ishani? Rahul is already struggling so much. Please, take Rani Ji's help for now. I will talk to Vaibhav and tell him to be strong."
Suddenly, the line went quiet, followed by a sharp, startled gasp from Divya. "Maa... my water broke!"
Malini's heart skipped a beat, her hand trembling as she held the phone. "What? Divya, stay calm! Where is Vaibhav? Call him right now! Get to the hospital immediately!"
"Vaibhav! Vaibhav!" Divya cried out, her voice filled with panic and pain.
Malini stood up, her mind racing. On the other end, she could hear the chaotic sounds of Vaibhav rushing in. "Divya! Is it happening?" Vaibhav's voice was frantic.
"Yes, Vaibhav, take her to the hospital! Now!" Malini shouted into the phone, tears springing to her eyes.
Vaibhav didn't waste a second. He scooped Divya up and hurried to the car, shouting for Rani and Devnath to come along. "Rani Maa! Papa! Come quickly, we're heading to the hospital!"
Back in Delhi, Malini was in a state of absolute panic. She immediately told Rahul. "Rahul, beta, Divya is in labor! They've rushed her to the hospital. I have to go to Banaras she needs me!"
Rahul, who was sitting by Ishani's bed, looked up. His eyes were tired, but his resolve was firm. "Aunty, please, don't worry at all. You must go. I will manage Ishaan and Ishani here. Deepak is here to help me. Just go and be with Divya."
"Thank you, Rahul," Malini choked out, her voice thick with emotion.
Within the hour, Deepak was ready to drive Malini to the airport. She took one last, lingering look at Ishani still, silent, and breathing only with the help of machines and prayed,
"Please, Ishani, give me a sign soon." With a heavy heart, she turned away and left for the airport, leaving Rahul alone to face the silence of the house.
Rahul walked over to where Ishaan and Mannat were hunched over their books. The room was quiet, filled only with the sound of scratching pencils.
He tried to force a smile, his heart heavy but determined.
"Hey, you two," he said gently. "What should I make for dinner? Just tell me, and I'll get started."
Ishaan and Mannat didn't even look up.
"Not hungry, Uncle," Ishaan mumbled.
Rahul frowned, leaning against the doorframe. "It's been all day, kids. You haven't eaten since this morning. Don't you feel hungry at all?"
"No," they replied in perfect, hollow unison.
Rahul felt a flicker of confusion. "Why are you both speaking like that? Come on, tell me what you want."
Mannat finally looked up, her young face filled with an adult's worry. "Ishaan doesn't want to trouble you, Uncle. You're always taking care of Ishani Aunty and the house, but you never take care of yourself. We don't want to be one more thing you have to worry about."
Rahul's breath hitched. He turned his gaze toward Ishaan, who was staring down at his notebook, his chin tucked into his chest. The sight broke Rahul's heart all over again.
He walked over, knelt down, and gently cupped Ishaan's face, lifting it so their eyes met.
"Ishaan, look at me," Rahul said, his voice soft but firm. "Never think like that. Your happiness is the most important thing to me. If you study well and stay a good boy, that is the biggest help you can give me. Please, don't carry such heavy thoughts."
Ishaan nodded slowly, a small, sad movement.
"Good," Rahul said, kissing both of their foreheads. "Now, finish your homework, and when you're done, come eat. That's an order."
The kids nodded, and Rahul headed to the kitchen. He began preparing a simple meal, the clinking of the pans the only sound in the house.
He was lost in his thoughts, his mind drifting back to Ishani, when a sudden, sharp knock at the main door pulled him back to reality.
He wiped his hands on a towel and walked to the door. He swung it open, expecting a courier or perhaps a neighbor, but instead Standing on his doorstep was a young woman he didn't recognize.
"Ji?" Rahul asked, his voice weary but guarded, his eyes searching hers for a reason for this unexpected visit.
"My name is Pihu," the girl said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I need to talk to you about something important."
Rahul stepped aside, his brow furrowed in confusion. "Oh... okay. Please, come in."
He led her into the living room and shut the door behind them. Pihu sat on the edge of the sofa, looking incredibly nervous.
She didn't waste any time. "How is your wife?"
Rahul stiffened, his shock evident. "You know my wife?"
"I don't know her personally," Pihu replied, her hands trembling. "But I know she's in a coma."
Rahul's guard went up immediately, his eyes narrowing. "Why are you here? How do you know about her condition?"
Pihu took a shaky breath, looking down at her hands. "Because what happened on that balcony... it wasn't an accident, Rahul."
The room suddenly felt ice-cold.
Rahul felt the blood drain from his face. "What are you talking about? How could you possibly know that?"
"I was staying in the hotel in Goa, right next to your room," Pihu explained, her voice cracking. "That morning, I saw everything. I saw your wife standing at the railing, and then... another girl walked up and pushed her. She just pushed her off the edge."
Rahul felt like he had been punched in the gut. His voice was a dangerous, jagged whisper. "Where did you see this from? Who are you?"
"I was stepping out of my room when it happened," Pihu said, tears welling in her eyes. "I saw it clearly, but I was so terrified. I went back inside and stayed hidden for two days. When I heard she was in a coma, I wanted to come forward, but then I found out who the girl was. She's not just anyone she's Sanaya Rai. Her family owns half of Goa, including those hotels. I was so scared of her power that I ran back to Mumbai."
She looked up at him, pleading for understanding. "I haven't slept for four months. Your wife's face haunts me every time I close my eyes. I had to find the courage to come here and tell you the truth."
"Who did you say it was?" Rahul asked, his voice shaking with a mix of fury and disbelief.
"Sanaya Rai," she repeated.
Rahul didn't wait. He grabbed his phone and called his contacts in the Goa police department, demanding every detail they had on Sanaya Rai.
Within hours, her file and a photograph arrived.
As the image loaded on his screen, Rahul felt his world shatter. It was her.
The same woman who had brazenly approached him and kissed him on the lips.
"Why?" he whispered, his heart hammering against his ribs. "Why would she do this to Ishani? Ishani never even met her... she had no enemies!"
He immediately demanded the police make an arrest, but the response was cold and crushing. "We can't touch her, Rahul. She's the daughter of one of the most powerful business dynasties in the country. Her influence is too deep."
Rahul slammed his phone down, his rage boiling over.
Pihu watched him, her heart breaking for the man standing before her. "I'm so sorry," she whispered, handing him a piece of paper. "This is my number. If you need me for anything any testimony I will come. I have to go now."
She left quietly, leaving Rahul alone in the suffocating silence.
He collapsed into a chair, the weight of the truth crushing him. The realization hit him like a physical blow Ishani was lying in that bed, broken and silent, all because of that one moment because of him.
It was his connection to Sanaya that had brought this nightmare upon them.
He buried his face in his hands and wept, the guilt tearing him apart from the inside out.
Deepak arrived from the airport and was stunned to see Rahul sitting there, completely shattered, tears streaming down his face.
"Rahul, what happened? Why are you sitting here like this?" Deepak asked anxiously.
Rahul looked up with red, exhausted eyes and told him everything. Every painful detail. Every betrayal. Every injustice Ishani had suffered.
As the truth unfolded, Deepak stood frozen in shock.
Then his expression hardened with determination.
"And you're sitting here crying?" he said firmly. "Rahul, this isn't the time to break down. This is the time to fight for Ishani. We can't let Sanaya Rai get away with this. We have to put her behind bars."
Rahul wiped his tears and looked at him helplessly.
"But how?" he asked.
"We need to speak to the DGP, sir," Deepak replied. "If we present the evidence, he'll issue a warrant. Then we'll arrest Sanaya Rai."
A spark of hope flickered in Rahul's eyes. He nodded immediately and picked up his phone.
The call connected, and after a serious discussion with the DGP, the warrant was approved.
Rahul lowered the phone, his jaw clenched with resolve.
"We'll have to go to Goa," he said. "But Ishani will be alone."
Deepak placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder."She won't be alone. Mom and Deeksha are with her. They'll take care of everything."
At those words, Rahul's emotions overwhelmed him once again. He broke down, tears rolling down his cheeks as he thought about Ishani and everything she had endured.
"We have to get justice for her," he whispered, his voice trembling. "No matter what it takes."
Deepak looked at him with unwavering confidence and nodded.
"We will, Rahul," he said firmly. "I promise you we will get Ishani the justice she deserves."
The next morning, Rahul stood beside Ishani's bed, ready to leave. The first rays of sunlight filtered through the window as he gently leaned down and kissed her forehead.
His eyes filled with emotion.
"You will get justice, Ishani," he whispered softly. "I promise."
With that promise in his heart, Rahul and Deepak left for Goa to arrest Sanaya Rai.
But the journey was far from easy.
Sanaya belonged to an extremely powerful and influential family.
Everywhere they went, doors seemed to close in their faces. Even the local police refused to help, unwilling to get involved against a family with so much power and influence.
Despite every obstacle, Rahul refused to give up.
Eventually, he and Deepak arrived at Sanaya's luxurious mansion. The guards stationed at the entrance blocked their path immediately.
"You can't go inside," one of them said firmly.
Just then, a phone call came from inside the house. The guards exchanged glances before stepping aside and allowing them to enter.
Inside, Rahul and Deepak came face-to-face with Sanaya's father.
They explained everything every crime, every piece of evidence, and the suffering Ishani had endured because of his daughter.
But the man refused to listen.
"All of this is a lie!" he shouted angrily. "My daughter has done nothing wrong."
Rahul's expression remained cold and unwavering.
"That doesn't matter," he replied. "We're here to arrest Sanaya. Call her downstairs."
The atmosphere instantly turned tense.
Within moments, dozens of bodyguards surrounded Rahul and Deepak. Several of them raised their weapons, pressing guns against their heads.
Sanaya's father smirked."If you want to stay alive, leave this place right now," he warned.
But Rahul and Deepak didn't move.
Not even an inch.
They had come too far to back down.
A fierce fight broke out. The hall erupted into chaos as punches were thrown and furniture crashed to the floor.
One by one, the bodyguards were overpowered.
When the struggle finally ended,
Rahul stood facing Sanaya's father.
His voice was cold and dangerous.
"Call your daughter."
Terrified, the man finally gave in.
A few moments later, Sanaya came downstairs.
The moment she saw her father injured and surrounded, panic filled her eyes.
"Papa!" she cried, rushing toward him. "What happened? How did this happen?"
Before she could understand the situation, Rahul stepped forward and snapped handcuffs around her wrists.
The metallic click echoed through the room.
Sanaya froze.
"You are under arrest," Rahul said firmly, looking directly into her eyes. "For the murder case of Ishani Awasthi."
"No!" Sanaya screamed. "You can't do this! Leave me!"
She shouted, cried, and struggled desperately, but no one came to help her.
For the first time in her life, her family's power meant nothing.
Rahul and Deepak escorted her out of the mansion and took her back to Delhi.
A few hours later, the heavy iron gates of the prison closed behind her.
Sanaya Rai was finally locked inside a jail cell.
And for the first time since Ishani's tragedy, Rahul felt that justice had begun its long journey.
Rahul and Deepak returned home after their exhausting trip.
The moment they stepped inside, they were greeted with unexpected good news.
Divya had given birth to twin boys.
For the first time in days, a genuine smile appeared on Rahul's face.
He congratulated Divya and family warmly.
Rahul told Vaibhav everything that had happened in Goa. He explained how Sanaya Rai had finally been arrested and was now behind bars.
No one could believe everything
Ishani had gone through.
But amidst the sadness, there was also relief.
At least the person responsible had finally been caught.
Later, Rahul walked quietly into
Ishani's room.
He sat beside her bed and looked at her peaceful face.
A faint smile touched his lips.
"See, Ishani?" he whispered softly, taking her hand in his. "She won't hurt anyone anymore. She's going to spend the rest of her life in jail. You got justice."
Just then, the door suddenly opened.
Little Ishaan came running inside.
The moment he saw Rahul, his eyes lit up.
Before Rahul could react, Ishaan threw his tiny arms around him and hugged him tightly.
Rahul froze for a second.
Then a smile broke across his face as he wrapped his arms around the boy and hugged him back.
"Ishaan..." he whispered.
"You left me and went away," Ishaan complained, refusing to let go.
Rahul chuckled softly and kissed his hair."No, kiddo. I just went away for work. I'm sorry."
"You missed me?" he asked gently.
Ishaan nodded immediately."A lot."
Rahul's heart melted.
"I'm sorry," he said. "From now on, I'll always tell you before I leave, okay?"
Ishaan nodded and buried his face deeper into Rahul's shoulder.
For a few moments, neither of them spoke.
Then Ishaan said something that made Rahul's entire world stop.
"Papa... don't leave me like Mumma and Papa did."
Rahul froze.
His breath caught in his throat.
For a moment, he wondered if he had heard correctly.
Slowly, he pulled back and cupped Ishaan's little face in his hands.
His eyes were wide with disbelief.
"What did you just call me?" he asked softly.
Ishaan blinked innocently."Papa."
Rahul felt tears instantly fill his eyes.
"Why did you call me Papa?" he whispered.
"I thought you were my Papa," Ishaan said simply. "Mannat didi told me. She said you married Mumma, so you're my Papa."
Rahul stared at him.
The words hit him straight in the heart.
His vision blurred with tears.
A trembling smile appeared on his face.
"Hmm..." he whispered, unable to stop crying. "Yes... I'm your Papa."
He kissed Ishaan's cheeks again and again before pulling him into a tight embrace.
The little boy happily wrapped his arms around Rahul's neck.
Rahul held him as if he never wanted to let go.
Then he looked toward Ishani.
Tears rolled down his cheeks as he spoke to her.
"Ishani... did you hear that?" he whispered brokenly. "Ishaan called me Papa."
He laughed softly through his tears.
"I don't even know how to be a father. I don't know anything about it."
His eyes never left her face."If you were here, you'd teach me, wouldn't you? You'd tell me what to do... you'd help me become the father he deserves."
Rahul tightened his hold around Ishaan and rested his forehead against the boy's hair.
The room was silent except for his quiet sobs.
And for the first time, despite all the pain in his heart, Rahul felt something else too-A new responsibility.
A new bond.
A new family that he would protect for the rest of his life.
......................................................................
Vaibhav quietly opened the door and stepped into the room.
His eyes immediately found Divya.
She was sitting up on the hospital bed, looking exhausted but peaceful, gently feeding their newborn sons.
Despite the tiredness visible on her face, there was a special happiness in her eyes a happiness only a mother could understand.
For a moment, Vaibhav simply stood there, watching her.
His heart felt full.
Slowly, he walked over and sat beside her.
Leaning down, he pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.
"How are you feeling, Divya?" he asked softly.
Divya looked at him and smiled.
A tired, beautiful smile.
"I'm very happy," she whispered. "Just looking at these two makes me forget all the pain."
Vaibhav glanced at the babies sleeping peacefully in her arms.
His eyes instantly softened.
Unable to stop himself, he wrapped his arms around Divya and pulled her into a careful hug.
"I'm really sorry," he murmured.
Divya looked at him in confusion.
"For what?"
Vaibhav lowered his head.
"I got so caught up worrying about Ishani that I couldn't take care of you the way I should have. You needed me, and I wasn't always there."
His voice broke with guilt.
Divya's eyes filled with tears.
She gently held his hand.
"It's okay," she said softly. "I was worried about Ishani too. We all were."
The tears that Vaibhav had been holding back finally escaped.
He nodded silently.
For a few moments, they simply sat together, holding each other while their babies feeding peacefully.
Then Vaibhav looked down at the twins and smiled through his tears.
"So..." he said, trying to lighten the mood. "What are we going to name these little troublemakers?"
Divya immediately smiled.
"I've already thought of names."
Vaibhav laughed."Of course you have. I knew you'd decide before I got a chance."
He gently nudged her shoulder.
"Tell me then. What names have you chosen?"
Divya looked down at the babies lovingly. A smile spread across her face.
"Dhruv and Veer."
Vaibhav repeated the names softly.
"Dhruv... Veer..."
He thought about them for a moment before a proud smile appeared on his face."Those are beautiful names."
Divya's smile widened.
Vaibhav carefully leaned over the babies.
First, he kissed one tiny forehead.
"Hello, Veer."
Then he kissed the other.
"And hello, Dhruv."
The newborns completely unaware of the love surrounding them.
Vaibhav looked at his sons, then at Divya.
In that moment, despite all the pain, worries, and struggles their family had faced, his heart felt at peace.
His family was finally together.
And as he held Divya's hand while looking at little Veer and Dhruv, he silently promised himself that he would protect them all, no matter what life brought their way.
